Unfortunately I couldn’t make last night’s reading at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in Denver with John Irving. I’ve met him before and have heard him speak but it’s still disappointing not to be able to go again hear a writer whose work I adore, so instead I took advantage of the internet and instead created my own “faux reading” by watching and listening to the many recent interviews Irving has given to promote his new novel: Last Night in Twisted River.
If you only have time to listen to one, I’d recommend this big think interview with John Irving. The video is even divided into 13 parts in case you don’t have time for the full 32 minute interview.

Here’s a conversation with John Irving and Sam Tanenhaus from the New York Times Book Review. The interview occurred back in January but has Irving talking about his process of not starting to write his novels until he knows the last sentence – and he actually tells us the last sentence and then the first sentence of Last Night in Twisted River.
Midmorning Radio interview on Minnesota Public Radio with John Irving. Here’s a video clip from that interview.
